Minnette Son, MD
Minnette Son, MD is a Cardiac Intensivist, Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Critical Care, Children’s Mercy Hospital, and University of Missouri at Kansas City. The majority of her professional career was with the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas and its Regional Academic Health Center in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. At UTHSCSA, she was instrumental in the development of a Pediatric Critical Care Program and Fellowship, the Congenital Heart Program/ Heart Center, and Community for Children, an elective in social justice advocacy and leadership development for medical students and residents, implemented in Texas’ Lower Rio Grande Valley. Throughout her career she has been involved in Global Health, supporting the development of sustainable pediatric cardiac programs internationally in Mongolia, Palestine, Kurdistan, Iraq, India, Nepal and Kosovo. She is the recipient of the Leonard Tow Award for Humanism in Medicine, and award of the Arnold P Gold Foundation for her commitment to the health and well-being of the global community.. She has expertise in providing medical care in settings with limited resources and of the ethical challenges for the global child.
